BENTLEY CORNICHE COUPE
Launched in 1965 the Rolls Royce Shadow and Bentley T were a big step compared to the Cloud and S which they replaced. Indeed they were very modern cars with monocoque chassis on four independent wheels and discs brakes. The newly introduced model reached a lot a success and a few customers wanted a coupe version which then was not available. James Young offered the first coupe version of the Shadow in 1967 and sold around 200 of them in four years. This success decided Rolls-Royce to build their own coupe version in association with Mulliner & Park Ward, the historical RR coach work builder. The new “Corniche” Coupe and Convertibles were launched in 1971 and named after the famous French road above the Mediterranean Sea crossing the Cote d’Azur. The corresponding Bentley version of the Rolls-Royce was also available and only 63 Bentley Corniche Coupes were built from 1971 until 1982, which 17 were of the “T1” ( 1971-1978 ) and only 7 LHD, making them the rarest after war Bentleys ever built.
