FERRARI 550 MARANELLO

Back in the 50s and 60s Ferrari forged its Legend with front engineed V12 Berlinettas and the Daytona launched in 1968 was to be the last of this fabulous two seater line. It was an incredibly quick and safe car to drive. However with the new Boxer, Ferrari decided in 1971 to turn its back to the front engine supercars. Three decades later, when Ferrari presented the 550 « Maranello » it immediately became a dream car, being a kind of modern incarnation from the now mythical Daytona. The name “Maranello” was also a direct evocation to Ferrari’s roots and traditions. Compared to the Testarossa the it was a very easy car to drive, especially at high speed but also a very friendly daily driver which was a pretty new notion for Ferrari. Developing 485 HP, capable of 312km/h, nicely bodied by Pininfarina, offering a big step in terms of service cost reduction and reliability, the 550 was a big success and one of the best Ferraris ever built.
