FERRARI DINO 246
Fabulous condition
Enzo Fearrai’s son, Alfredo “Dino”, after his engineer graduation imagined with Jano a four camer V6 to be used on the Ferrari race cars. Unfortunately he wouldn’t see this engine as a genetic illness blew his life in 1956, only aged of 24. This was probably the worst heart braking in Enzo’s life but to keep the spirit from his son alive Enzo decided to built the V6 engine he imagined and fit it in the 156 F2 in 1957, then in the 246 F1 in 1958 which allowed Hawthorn to win the Championship. This was a very well born, powerful and very compact unit. After being replaced in F1 in 1961 it was fitted in the first mid-engineed Ferrari, the 246 and 196 SP, they were extremely light race cars and scored a lot of wins including Targa Florio, Nurburgring 1000 km and the European Hill Climb Championship. These were the seeds to the fabulous 250P and LM. In 1966 the all new Dino 206 SP was launched and was supposed to be the new star in Sport Prototype two liter class, a wonderful car with breath taking lines. The Dino make was then official since 1965 and the idea came soon to build a road car. The Dino 206 GT was presented in early 1968 and immediately entered in production, only 150 were built until it was replaced in mid 1969 by the 246GT. This is a very modern car and a real step in Ferrari history, it is the first model to be fitted with rack and pinion steering and mid engine, more generally it announced a new age for Ferrari as its concept and design will continue until the 308/328s and BBs. The 246GT was a much better car with a more powerful & torquy engine and better road holding due to the longer wheel base. With its 195 HP it was able to reach 235 km/h as top speed and the kilometer in 27 seconds. The excellent chassis made the car much quicker than bigger ones and it is still a real enjoyment on small roads 40 years on. The interior nice and refined, the large trunk and the high top speed made it also a real grand tourism car. The iconic Dino 246GT will remain as one of the best and nicest model built by Ferrari.
