Two Victories at Spa Classic and a great show

May 2023

Spa Classic is always a very diverting week end, the track is amazing and the Belgian public are real aficionados and there is also a lots of history there.

We were running the Lola T70 in Classic Endurance Racing 1 and both the Saleen GT1 and Viper GTS-R in Endurance racing Legend.

The Saleen S7R chassis 029R raced ALMS 2004 & 2005 plus the 2009 FIA GT. It was subject to a major restoration and is vintage raced since 2019. Eric Hélary qualified the car third overall and first in class position.

The highly iconic Viper GTS-R chassis C41 is the last Oreca factory car built and raced Le Mans in 2002. It has also been subject to an impressive restoration to its exacting original specifications. The car suffered brake problems and only qualified second in GT2a.

At race 1 both cars race was ruined by the safety car and both finished second. Race 2 saw them largely dominating their class. It was great to see both drivers on the podium.

In CER1 the T70 MKIIIb SL76/141 suffered a little mechanical issue in qualification but managed to score the 2nd best time in only three laps. For the race the car had to start last from the 57th position but managed to remarkably reach 3rd at the end of the one hour race. However the car received a 30sec penalty due to a safety car infringement procedure and was finally classified 7th.

All of our three cars have proven to be the top performers of their class, the Spa race was a good way to prepare Le Mans and we are looking forward to performing there.
