SALEEN S7R GT1

The very first winning Saleen

After a long experience in GT racing with the highly developed Mustangs GT2, the genious Steeve Saleen decided in the late 1990s to build his own GT1 upon the new GT regulations for the 2000s. In August 2000 he launched the fabulous S7 at the Monterey Historics, this was the most high-tech road car of its time with a fabulous engineering, retaining basically the most interesting and advanced solutions used on the dramatic GT1 race cars from the late 90s. In terms of technology and building quality, Saleen pushed very far the limits to a level never seen on an American car. In October 2000, Steeve Saleen raised the bar again and introduced the “S7R” race version to comply with the ALMS, Le Mans and FIA GT1 regulations. The Saleens were always raced by privateer team with factory support and were very successful everywhere they raced. They won on most of the race tracks in the world, only 15 race cars were built. They scored a total of 9 various GT championships and 110 wins, by constantly upgrading the cars with the race teams, the Saleen were capable to remain competitive from 2001 to 2009. The most successful seasons were under the Oreca days in 2006 and 2007, when they clinched both of the French GT and ALMS championships. No doubt in a near future the Saleens will be highly collectible items … a great time now for collectors.

We are very proud to offer the S7R chassis number “004R” which has the particularity to have been always maintains to the highest specifications and in top racing condition. Historically this is a very important car as it’s the first Saleen to have win a Championship : the 2001 Gran-Am Rolex Series with the Team Fordahl Motorsport, the car next went to FIA-GT in 2003 with Graham Nash Motorsport then in 2004 with Ray Mallock as a factory backed car. In 2006 Konrad sparely used the car, also in FIA-GT. In late 2007 we sold the car to its current owner who completely dismantled it for a complete upgrade with most of the ORECA evolutions on engine, gearbox, aerodynamics and brakes. It has been campaigned as a front runner in the French GT championship and carefully maintained. It’s offered with a huge spares package including gearbox, engine, bodywork and suspension on separate negociation. It’s a hugely quick car and very easy to maintain, we can also supply all the knowledge and information for setting and racing the car. This is a great opportunity to acquire the very first winning Saleen, an important historic car with Daytona, Sebring and FIA-GT history in perfect racing condition.  - - - Car sold to Japan - - -
