ASTON MARTIN SUPER CHARGED
Supercharged
The make Aston Martin was created in 1913, until the 40s it became famous by building light and very quick four cylinders sport and race cars. David Brown in 1947 bought and brought it back to life with the launch in 1950 of the famous DB serial. They became the emblematic English sport cars, indeed the DBs were the best sport cars of their time. After a long involvement in racing, Aston Martin won Le Mans in 1959 with Caroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori won the Le Mans at wheel of the DBR1 and launched in 1963 one of the make’s master piece : the DB5 which is now priceless on the market. They were styled, refined and very quick cars, which perfectly matched to the new hero James Bond’s image then the Astons became associated to him. After the success of DB Series, the V8 Vantage maintained the make’s image and high level of performance till the end on the 80s. However after the introduction of the new model “Virage” in 1989 some were disappointed due to the lack of power, the high potential version was presented in 1992 at Birmingham Show and called “ Vantage Supercharged”. It immediately repositioned Aston Martin at the highest level. Fitted with twin compressors the output was now of 550 HP allowing extremely fast accelerations. In 1998 the V600 was launched producing 600 HP with allowed it to be the first Aston Martin to pass the mythical 300 km/h wall. This limited edition is very different to drive from the standard V8-Supercharged with AP Racing brakes and completely revised suspension. It was also able to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 sec and less than 23 sec from start to 1 km. This is also the final hand built Aston before Ford introduced rationalised production, which made each Aston as unique. Furthermore only 30 of the V600s were built until 2000, making them some of the rarest in the fabulous Aston-Martin history.
