Grand Défi
The character Michel Vaillant was created in 1957 by Jean Graton but this was only in 1959 that the first album was released named “Grand Défi”.
Michel is a race pilot hereo who drives cars designed and built by his father, the “Vaillantes”. There are as of today no less than 70 albums published and three generation of readers who dreamt of Michel, Steve Warson, Julie Wood, Bob Cramer or Ruth Randson adventures.
In 1999 the dream came true and the Vaillante found an incarnation into the “Grand Défi” which was built to compete into the “Star Challenge” in France which assembled on the grid various celebrity from the Show Business. The builder and promoter of the 16 cars were Philippe Charles Toussaint and Joel Hamon.
In 2003 Luc Besson produced the movie “Michel Vaillant” a drama helding during the Le Mans 24 Hours race. The “Grand Défi appears during a drive test scene with Julie Wood and Michel Vaillant at the wheel. An album was published in 2005 “Pour David” which was basically an adaptation from the movie, the “Grand Défi” cars figured in good place in it.
