The McLaren P1 is the long-awaited successor to the McLaren F1 on a limited productionplug-in hybrid supercar from McLaren Automotive. The concept vehicle debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The entire production of 375 units was sold out by November 2013. It has a carbon fiber monocoque and a roof structure safety cage concept called MonoCage. Power is from a 3.8liter twin turbo V8 delivering 727bhp at 7,500rpm combined with an in-house designed electric motor giving 176bhp. Power comes from a lithium-ion high density battery pack that can be recharged by the petrol engine or with plug-in leads. Formula1 technology is very much present with IPAS (instant power assist system), DRS (drag reduction system) opening the rear wing, and KERS. All this makes for shattering performance: 0- 200km/h in 6.8 seconds and 6.2 seconds to brake to a standstill from 299km/h covering only 246meters. This car is hand assembled by a select team of 61 engineers at McLaren's HQ at Woking, in the UK. It is rumoured to eb the quickest of the today’s Hypercars.
