Master victories at 10000 Tours du Castellet

October 2019

The 10000 Tours at Le Castellet was our last event in Europe in 2019, and the least to say is that we did not come back home empty handed.

The Saleen S7R GT1 is now fully developed and a real blast to drive, it proved all along the Endurance Racing Legends series this year to be the fastest GT1 car.

We won overall in Race 1 ahead of the prototypes, the race was hectic. Starting on pole in front of LMPs, 2x Panoz GT1, Astons & Vipers GT1... we decided to fit the slicks as the track was still wet but rain had stopped. This was the best choice as all the leadings cars started on slicks. The Saleen's pace was insane but at lap 6 we were given a drive through because we were told to have overtaken the safety car too early at the start ! Even with the penalty we took again the lead of the race 3 laps before the end then quietly took the checkered flag. Our first overall victory with the S7R...
In Race 2 we were only beaten by Raymond Narac at the wheel of Michel Lecourt's Ferrari 333SP, maiden drive from Raymond who a pro driver and there was nothing to do.We comfortably finished 1st GT and 2nd OA, 7 sec from the Ferrari.

In Group C the Jaguar XJR-14 was a blast with Eric Hélary and Gerard Lopez at the wheel, it did pole position and largely led the race but had a mechanical failure on the last lap. A crazy bad luck this time but 2020 should be our year…

In HTC there was another highlight of the week-end with a superb victory on the wet from our customer Anthony Schrauwen. He really mastered driving his beautiful BMW 635 « Monroe » under a heavy rain, starting 23rd he managed a 10th OA finish and won Group A class. He had a great pace constantly in the top 3 best lap times and did no mistake. This is a great reward from the driver and team efforts, so happy to have be able to prove the potential of the duo.

Our customers’s Viper GTS-R worked perfectly after a complete body and mechanical restoration.
The car lapped in 2.05 and scored the top speed in GT of the week-end.
This is the first engine run after working a year to recreate the original Caldwell specifications had for Oreca’s factory engines. Our customer engine program is now almost set and some announcements are to come soon…

Now looking for 2020 and another amazing European season.
