Nicolas Prost to drive the Alain & Nicolas Prost' VIPER GTS-R at Le Mans Classic
June 2025

" Prost, one of the greatest names in the history of F1, is also linked to GT1 racing. In fact, twenty years ago, in 2005, Alain Prost decided to return to racing for one season to celebrate his 50th anniversary. He competed in the French GT Championship, driving an exceptional ORECA Viper GTS-R that had been re-engineered by Luc Marchetti’s Exagon.
After the first part of the season, during which he co-drove with Jean-Pierre Jabouille, Alain shared the wheel with his son Nicolas for the last two rounds of Le Mans (on the Bugatti circuit) and Magny-Cours. The duo showed an amazing pace. Nicolas, who was just 24 at the time, was at the beginning of his career, and many saw this as a passing of the baton from one generation to the next.
After purchasing the 'Prost Viper' chassis C51 in 2007, Florent Moulin rebuilt the car to the highest standards in 2023 and looked for a significant event at which to reunite it with its original driver, Nicolas. The 2025 Le Mans Classic happened to be the perfect event for this reunion, as it was held in the same place where, 20 years ago, the Prost duo had their first race together.
To prepare for Le Mans Classic, Nicolas drove his legendary Viper again, which was an emotional experience for him and the team. After a couple of laps, Nicolas quickly regained his rhythm and demonstrated the car’s incredible pace.
We are looking forward to racing at Le Mans next weekend and making this fantastic reunion unforgettable.
Nicolas PROST ( Driver )
« It was really a great pleasure to be back onboard the Viper. I have to admit that 20 years is a long time, and I didn't remember much even about the interior! What's immediately striking is the overall quality of the car - it's hard to believe it's 20 years old! After that, the engine is clearly a monster, with power and torque we're not used to anymore! It's also a pleasure to share the car with Florent, this car really has a special attachment to St Chamond. »
Florent MOULIN ( Art & Revs and Iconic Racing owner )
« This car has a special meaning for me. I love these GT1s, of course, but I owe a great deal of my passion for motorsport to Alain. When I was a child, I lived less than 100 metres from his house in Saint Chamond, a small town near Lyon. One of my earliest memories is seeing him at our local restaurant, "Les Ambassadeurs". We used to go there with my grandparents. During the F1 season, Sundays were definitely occupied by the Grand Prix. When Alain won, the whole town was on the podium. Perhaps that's when I realised that anything was possible with a car.
I am honoured to share the wheel with Nicolas. It's great to see his enthusiasm from day one of the project, and I would like to thank him for his trust. We are expecting to perform well and give the public a lot of pleasure. »
